Massage draws on the philosophy of holistic Therapies, which encourages the body to use its own natural ability to heal. With the right circumstances, the body can achieve optimum health naturally.
Soft tissue pain is caused by the tightening of muscles. Over time, tight, inflamed muscles and fascia (connective tissue that permeates muscles and forms protective sheets throughout your body) suffer poor circulation and can develop adhesions, which prevent muscles from lengthening completely. Painful trigger points can also develop, often referring pain or tingling to other areas in the body. In extreme cases, tight muscles can compress nerves just as painfully as subluxation (when spinal bones lose their normal motion or position).
The body has its own ability to heal. Massage Therapy facilitates this through touch, soft tissue manipulation, Remedial Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Deep Tissue Therapy, Myofascial Release, Lymphatic Drainage and stretches with a view of achieving optimum health and well-being.
Different techniques and approaches are used in Massage Therapy with the ultimate goal of bringing change for the better, physically, by easing pain, tension and stiffness and emotionally in a therapeutic manner of calming the nerves and inducing a state of relaxation.
